Chief's Message

Welcome to the Bartlett Fire Protection District website. We hope you will take the time to look through our site to better understand the many services we provide to our community.

Bartlett firefighters have been protecting the community since 1897 when 26 volunteers came together to form the Bartlett Volunteer Fire Department. A lot has changed since 1897, today, the Bartlett Fire Protection District (District) protects a total area of 24 square miles which consists of approximately 46,000 residents. To serve this area, the District consists of 47 sworn full-time personnel, 4 sworn part-time personnel, 6 full-time private contract personnel, and 5 civilian personnel. The District responds out of three stations strategically located throughout the community.  The District is an all-hazards department responding to emergency medical, vehicle accidents, structure fires, hazardous materials, dive rescue, and technical rescue incidents.  The District is a member of Mutual Aid Box Alarm System Division 2 and responds to approximately 4,000 calls annually.

Bartlett Fire Protection District operates with three 24-hour rotating shifts. Each shift is staffed with ten firefighters, three lieutenants, and one battalion chief. This staffing model supports two engines, one tower ladder, two ambulances, and a command vehicle. All of the District’s vehicles are staffed with highly trained paramedics who can provide advanced life support services within minutes.

In addition to the shift personnel, Bartlett Fire Protection District manages a fire prevention bureau, staffed with one fire marshal. The District administration consists of the fire chief, deputy fire chief, human resource manager, executive assistant, and department chaplain.

The Bartlett Fire Protection District is on an endless mission to preserve lives and property in our community by providing services directed at the prevention of fires, accidents, and other emergencies while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, efficiency, and effectiveness. While we strive to provide exceptional services, we solicit any and all information from our community. Please do not hesitate to call us with any concerns, questions, comments, or thoughts. Our administrative office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM., and we can be reached at 630-837-3701. I can also be personally reached by email.

Thank you, and thanks for visiting!
